The latest release from Motorola in the line of cable modem router combos is the Motorola MG8702. As with most other new releases, the MG8702 is a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. It also features a built-in AC3200 WiFi Router. With that said, it does not feature the newest WiFi 6 (802.11AX) standard.

The Motorola MG7550 is one of the latest released WiFi cable modems. It features 16 download channels and 4 up. This cable modem can deliver speeds up to 686 Mbps with a built-in AC1900 Wi-Fi Gigabit Router with Power Boost. The MG7550 is certified by a number of leading cable service providers including Comcast XFINITY internet tiers of 300 and lower.

The Motorola MG7540 features 16 x 4 channel bonding and has a built-in AC1600 WiFi router. This cable modem also has a firewall and the Broadcom cable modem chipset provides security from Denial of Service attacks. This is important because modems with the Intel Puma 6 chipset has caused problems for many.

The ARRIS SURFboard SBG6782AC is a little different from most cable modems. What sets it apart is its MoCA ability. MoCA allows for a different type of wired connection via the homes’ existing coax wiring. With a MoCA adapter at the opposite end of this modem/router, you can connect to the internet via a coax jack.
